The Therapeutic Potential and Possible Mechanisms of Action of Ginkgo Biloba Extract on the Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model
This study discusses the effect of the Ginkgo biloba extract EGb 761 on the Aβdeposition of Alzheimer's disease(AD)mouse model, and establish the AD mouse model through the intraventricular administration and intervened by orally administering EGb 761.The study employs the behavioral test(Y-maze test)to evaluate the impact of EGb 761 on the cognitive function of AD mice;meanwhile, tests the Aβ1-42 and pT181-tau protein level by using ELISA to explore the influence of EGb 761 on the expression of hallmark proteins of AD.The results remind us that EGb 761 can significantly mitigate the Aβ deposition and tau protein phosphorylation in an AD mouse model, which reveals that EGb 761 may exert its anti-AD effect by modulating the pathway of Aβgeneration and the process of tau protein phosphorylation.
