Advances in Quorum Sensing-mediated Probiotic Effects of Lactic Acid Bacteria
Recent years, the probiotic properties and mechanisms of lactic acid bacteria have been widely studied, most of them focused on the intrinsic regulatory mechanisms of single colony.Quorum sensing(QS),as a signaling molecule-based bacterial communication mechanism, which play an important role in the growth and metabolism of lactic acid bacteria and resistance to environmental stress. This paper introduces three types of QS in lactic acid bacteria and their mechanisms of action, summarizes the mechanisms of QS in regulating the physiological functions of lactic acid bacteria, such as biofilm formation, bacteriocin production, and acid resistance, and describes the mechanisms of QS-mediated regulation of the probiotic properties of lactic acid bacteria and antagonism against pathogenic bacteria to provide theoretical guidance for the research and application of the probiotic functions of lactic acid bacteria.
