Analysis of respirator fit test for dust-exposed workers in a construction site
Objective To investigate the fitness of particulate respirators for workers exposed to dust in a construction site, and to explore the relationship between facial dimensions of human body and the fitness of respirators. Methods All dust-exposed workers as the research subjects whose facial dimensions indexes were scanned and measured. And fitness of collapsible respirators and cup respirators were analyzed. Results A total of 108 dust-exposed workers were all male, and the total coverage of respirator fit test panels was 95.4%.The passing rate of the two types of particulate respirators was 36.1%,for folding one it was 11.1%,and cup one was 30.6%.There was significant difference between the two types of particulate respirators(x2=12.379,P<0.05).No difference showed in the different movements and ethnic composition of workers in the fit test. The passing rate of the two types of particulate respirator was correlated with morphological facial length(β=1.311,0.841,P<0.05).The longer the face length, the greater the probability of passing the fit test. Conclusion The passing rate of field fit test is relatively low;The type of particulate respirator and face length of the wearer have an effect on the fitness. It is suggested that enterprises provide necessary training and intervention for wearing particulate respirators, and select the suitable particulate respirators for workers through fit test,so as to improve the overall protective effect of particulate respirators for workers exposed to dust.
