The Efficacy of Tuina Therapy in Treating Patients with Total Brachial Plexus Injury
Objective:To observe the rehabilitation efficacy of Tuina Therapy in treating patients with the operation of brachial plexus.Methods:Nighty-five cases of patients with operation of brachial plexus were divided into three groups:the Tuina therapy group with 33 patients having Tuina and physical therapy (treated with low frequency pulsed electric stimulation and medium frequency electric stimulation);the physiotherapy group with 33 patients treated with physical therapy only;and the control group with 29 patients recovered by themselves after surgery. The effect was evaluated according the brachial plexus function evaluation standard, the muscle strength evaluation, and EMG of musculocutaneous and suprascapular nerve was performed to see whether the nascent potential appeared. Results:The Tuina therapy group and physiotherapy group were effective in treating dysfunction after the operation of brachial plexus. On the aspect of upper limb function and muscle force, from the first course, the restoration of physiotherapy group was better than that of the control group, and the Tuina therapy group was better than physical therapy group, with statistically significant differences (P< 0.05).The nascent potentials appeared in the dominant muscles of the recipient nerve in all groups, and there were significant differences between the physiotherapy group and control group (P < 0.05),without significant difference between the Tuina therapy group and physiotherapy group. However,by observing the recovery rate,Tuina therapy group was better than the physiotherapy group. Conclusion:The rehabilitation of Brachial plexus after surgery is an important part of clinical recovery.Tuina Therapy can activate blood and resolve stasis, and it is effective in the regeneration of the nerve. It is worth popularizing in clinical application.
