On the Dimension of the Interpreting Subject:One of the Fundamental Issues of Chinese Literary Hermeneutics
The subject of interpretation was originally a fundamental issue in the study of hermeneu-tics.However,in specific historical scenarios, people avoided discussing authors and subjects, which had led to a significant decline in hermeneutics'focus on the subject of interpretation.Hans-Georg Gada-mer's philosophical hermeneutics pays close attention to the influence of the interpreting subject's"preju-dices"on the interpretation process and its outcomes. However,it does not seem to pay much attention to the crucial role of the subject's conscious actions in the interpretation process.Based on the experience of the Chinese tradition of interpretation, the issue of the subject of interpretation has always been at the heart of interpretive thought and practice.Due to differences in social circumstances, personal experi-ences and personalities, different interpreting subjects will produce vastly different interpretive outcomes when copying with the same object of interpretation. This is largely the result of the interpreter's con-scious choices. Therefore, the study of the various characteristics and limitations of the subject of inter-pretation,such as activity and passivity, explicitness and implicitness, should be one of the fundamental issues in Chinese literary hermeneutics.
