The Effect of Ethanol on the Performance of Marine Diesel Engines Blended with Biodiesel
For the TBD234V6 marine diesel engine,AVL-Fire simulation software was used to conduct simulation experiments on diesel engines using a mixture of pure diesel, biodiesel, and ethanol with different blending ratios under rated operating conditions.By analyzing the combustion and emission performance of marine diesel engines, the influence of ethanol on the performance of marine engines with 30%blending ratio of biodiesel was explored. The results showed that when the blending ratio of ethanol in diesel biodiesel mixed fuel reached 20%,the peak pressure and temperature in the cylinder decreased the most, and the emissions of NOx and Soot were also significantly reduced.Compared with the combustion of diesel biodiesel mixed fuel, the peak pressure and temperature in the cylinder decreased by about 1.7%and 2.9%,respectively,and the emissions of NOx and Soot decreased by 19.9%and 18.5%,respectively.
