A Soil Survey on Provincial Nature Reserve of Trachypithecus Francoisis in Yezhong County of Liupanshui City
A survey was performed on the soil in the provincial nature reserve of Trachypithecus Francoisis in Yezhong County,Liupanshui City,Guizhou Province,China.Standard samples were collected from the representative areas in the reserve. The soil condition was then analyzed to determine the formation factors and structural levels, soil physical and chemical properties. The soil fertility was compared for the different vegetation types. The results show that the types of sedimentary rocks were mainly distributed in the reserve. The soil was formed by weathering of parent materials, such as carbonate and clastic rocks, with the distribution altitude ranging from 900 to 1800 m.There was also the high exposure rate of rocks in the reserve.A-B or A-AB soil configurations were observed with the shallow soil layer, and the incomplete soil profile, indicating relatively weak hierarchical differentiation. The high content of soil gravel under the relatively loose state is conducive to the infiltration of water for the growth of plant roots.A moderate rich level was found in the soil organic matter and N content. But P and K contents were relatively low, indicating the low fertility of soil. The best fertility was found in the wild cherry+Litsea Lam forest a-mong different vegetation types surface soil. The complex soil structure was observed with the high content of gravel and the low fertility of soil in the reserve. The provincial nature reserve can be expected to strengthen the manage-ment and protection.Significant ecological functions can be used to improve the forest soil, water storage capacity, and soil fertility. The finding can provide the data support of soil conditions for the scientific management and plan-ning in the reserve.
