Identifying Priority Conservation Areas and Richness of Rare and Endangered Species in Nature Reserves of Zunyi,Guizhou,China
A nature reserve can preserve and restore the survival capacity of rare and endangered species in the biodiversity of natural ecosystems. This study aims to identify the priority conservation areas and richness of rare and endangered species in nature reserves of Zunyi City GuiZhou Province,China. The current status and conservation benefits of nature reserves were also evaluated to determine the prioritization of conservation efforts within these re-serves.Dobson screening method was employed to identify the key protected species and their distribution patterns in the nature reserves. The results revealed that:(1)The richness and distribution of rare and endangered species ex-hibited a distinct pattern in the nature reserves, with a dense concentration from the northwest to the southeast, and a sparse distribution from the southwest to the northeast.(2)The"cumulative screening"method was implemented to identify the top six reserves with the highest contribution rates, where were accounting for 90%of the total contri-bution rate.(3)Since most of the rare and endangered flora and fauna were comprehensively protected in their nat-ural habitats, there are still some areas to be improved. The identification of protection gaps can serve as the valuable guidance for the development and planning of nature reserves.
