Bird Diversity Under Different Urban Landscapes——A Case Study in Guiyang of China
Bird habitats have been isolated into the different types of landscape patches under rapid urbanization. It is crucial to clarify the habitats with the various landscapes for the protection and management of birds. In this study, the transect method was used to characterize the bird communities in the different types of landscape. The research area was taken as the urban and surrounding areas of Guiyang City,Guizhou Province,China.Six types of landscape were divided to compare the bird diversity. The results showed that:(1)Shannon-Wiener diversity indexes of birds were ranked in the descending order of the urban forest>wetland water>rural farmland orchard>urban green space>barren mountains shrubs>urban buildings;(2)There were the differences in species with the higher rela-tive abundance among different landscape types;(3)The habitat of rare and endangered species was distributed mainly in the urban forests, wetlands, and water bodies.Birds shared some certain adaptability to urban landscapes, but there were some differences among the landscape types. Therefore, the biodiversity conservation can be expected for harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
