Current Status and Prospects of Research on Cultivating Edible Mushroom Using Forestry Wastes
Cultivation of edible mushroom is characterized by the biological fermentation, where the raw materials of waste biomass can convert from agriculture and forest into fungal mycelia. The production is also required to consume a lot of biomass resources, such as lignin and cellulose.Fortunately, forestry wastes normally contain a large number of biomass resources and nutrient elements suitable for the production of edible mushrooms. This review aims to clarify the types and biochemical properties of forestry wastes, the types of edible mushrooms to be cultivated,formu-lations and biological production efficiency. Some recommendations and prospects were also given on the cultivation of edible mushrooms from forestry wastes. It is of great significance for the utilization of forestry wastes as resources in food industry.
