As a famous man of letters,Mr.Yang Shen was unfortunately exiled in Yun-nan for a complication in the so-called"Big Ritual Incidence".During his stay in Yunnan,Mr.Yang left a big number of legends concerning local folk livelihood,festivals and customs,folk art,and landscape narratives.His legends are featured with translocality,transethnicity and transculturalness,deeply affecting the cultural memories,morality and ethics,and cultural aes-thetics of Yunnan people,forming and enhancing the endorsement of the Chinese culture by the Yunnan people of all ethnicities.It is argued that under the circumstances of enhancing a sense of community for the Chinese nation we should fully discover the contemporary value and era significance of the Yang Shen legends,which contributes to providing cultural resources for ethnic work and promoting the creative transformation and innovative de-velopment of folk legends.
