By means of personal life history this paper conducts an analysis of process and features regarding the generation of local elites in flowing society based on a case of private-run museum.It is argued that the flows brought forth by contemporary social transformation provide a social cultural"field"for outsiders to enter local society and grow up to be local elites.The open-o-riented features of flowing society make it possible for outsiders to be fur-nished with a variety of"capitals",adjust their"habitus",and change in i-dentity to"local elites".Nevertheless,there exists a dilemma concerning how to integrate into local society when it comes to the generation path of lo-cal elites from outside to inside.Outside elites rely on external capitals and power to become local elites,but they should strengthen association with lo-cal society so as to make a real-sense transformation of identity.
