Sociological Research on"Etiquettes and Customs":Surveys Centered on Yenching University's Weekly"The Study of Sociology"
The weekly"The Study of Sociology",started by the teachers and students of Faculty of Sociology,Yenching University,concentrated the academic ac-tivities and fruits concerned,which are an important window for the faculty's academic ideas and the sociological status quo of the 1930s.The survey reports and research achievements regarding etiquettes and customs occu-pied an important status in the weekly.The sociologists searched,sorted out and recorded the etiquette and custom materials of different regions based on field work or emphasized the close links between etiquettes and customs and social organization and structure under the guidance of community theo-ry.The perception of etiquettes and customs through sociological lens was conducive to understanding the complementary functions between the two adjacent disciplines-sociology and folklore,and offering more detailed ca-ses for an examination on the academic turn of the Faculty of Sociology,Yenching University from social survey to community study.
