The Origin and Historical Change of the Lao in Northeastern Thailand
Most of Lao-speaking people live in northeastern Thailand rather than in Laos today.The Lao there came from today＇s Laos before the Thai controlled today＇s northeastern Thailand.With the formation of modern Thailand the Lao there became the citizens of Thailand.Now they are called＂northern Thai＂instead of Lao in Thailand,although some of them still call themselves Lao and are closely related to the Lao in Laos.
