Textual Research on the History of Tusi in Xuan'en County Western Hubei
During the period of Tusi system,the whole Xuan'en County in Hubei Province was under its jurisdiction,from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty,the central government set up more than ten Tusi in Xuan'en county,such as Shinan,Zhongjian,Dongxiangwulu,Zhongdong,Gaoluo and Muce.After hundreds of years of Tusi era,until the reign of Emperor Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty,changed from Tusi to the feudal gouerment in uhat was termed Gai Tu Gui Liu(shift from Tusi to pro vincial ruling)the Tusi system was reformed and Xuan'en county was established.This paper combs the setting and evolution of Tusi in the history of Xuan'en County,and makes a preliminary textual research on the jurisdiction and inheritance of Tusi based on literature records and field investigation data.
