Study on the coupling and coordination of carbon emissions from cultivated land use and food security in mountainous areas
In order to explore the development of trade-off/synergy between carbon emission reduction and carbon sequestration and food security protection in the process of cultivated land utilisation in mountainous areas,we take Guizhou Province, where typical karst landscapes are distributed, was taken as the study area,to construct a methodological system for assessing the carbon emission of culti-vated land utilisation in mountainous areas, calculate the carbon emission efficiency and food security level of cultivated land utilization from 2010 to 2022,and clarify the relationship between carbon emis-sion efficiency and food security as well as the characteristics of spatio-temporal evolution using the coupling coordination degree model. The results of the study showed that:1)Over the past 13 years, the spatiotemporal variation carbon emissions from cultivated land in Guizhou Province have shown a pattern of"high in the west and low in the east, high in the north and low in the south",with a trend of first increasing and then decreasing.Chemical fertilizers were one of the main sources of carbon e-missions from cultivated land and are also the key to the reduction of carbon emissions from cultivated land in mountainous areas.2)From 2010 to 2022,the carbon emission efficiency of cultivated land use in Guizhou Province showed a decreasing and then increasing trend, with an overall low level. There were significant differences among cities(states),showing the characteristics of high in the northwest and low in the southeast.3)From 2010 to 2022,the average level of food security in Guizhou Province increased from 0.510 to 0.537,showing a trend of"decline-rise",which is at a critical level of safety.Spatially,it is characterized by high in the north and low in the south.4)From 2010 to 2022,the coupling coordination degree between the carbon emission efficiency of cultivated land utilization and food security in Guizhou Province developed from"barely coordinated"to"primary coor-dinated"on the whole. The coupling coordination degree of all cities(states)has been improved, but the northern was significantly higher than the southern. It is suggested that Guizhou Province should combine the characteristics of cultivated land in mountainous areas, deepen the agricultural industrial structure, promote advanced and green farming technologies vigorously, and achieve the coordinated and sustainable development of carbon emission reduction in cultivated land utilization and food security.
