Effects of Foliar Selenium Spraying on Selenium Content,Yield, and Quality of Maize
A field experiment was conducted using the local high-yielding maize variety Xianyu1619 as the experimental material, and four selenium concentration treatments were designed, and the water was used as the control(S0)to study the effects of foliar spraying of sodium selenite on maize grain yield, quality and selenium content in grains at the big flared stage. The results showed that with the increase of foliar spraying selenium concentration, the yield of maize and contents of starch, crude fat and protein in maize grain increased first and then decreased, and the foliar spraying 35 g/hm2 treat-ment was the highest, which significantly increased by 36%,12%,27%and 9%compared with the control, respectively.Selenium content in maize grains increased gradually, and 45 g/hm2 treatment was the highest, which was significantly increased by 405%compared with control.Based on the comprehensive analysis of maize yield, quality and selenium content in maize kernels, the optimal concentration of selenium sprayed on the leaf surface was 35 g/hm2,which could meet the standard of Se-rich maize and achieve higher yield.
