Effects of Drought Stress on Seed Germination and Physiological Characteristics of Periploca forrestii Schltr Seed
In order to explore the effect of drought stress on seed germination of Periploca forrestii Schltr,PEG-6000 solution with different concentration gradients was used to conduct stress experiments on Periploca forrestii seeds, and the relevant indexes of seed germination under different concentrations of PEG-6000 stress were ana-lyzed,the differences in seed germination characteristics under different concentrations of PEG-6000 stress were compared. The results showed that under medium and low concentration drought stress, the seeds of Periploca forrestii had a certain degree of stress resistance, while the high concentration of PEG-6000 inhibited seed ger-mination,its germination rate, germination potential, germination index and daily germination rate decreased with the increase of PEG-6000 concentration, and high drought stress had an inhibitory effect on seed germina-tion.With the increase of PEG-6000 concentration, the root length, stem length and seedling height of the seeds germinated by the seeds of Periploca forrestii were inhibited and gradually decreased. The malondialdehyde con-tent was proportional to the concentration of PEG-6000,and the overall trend was upward. The protein of seeds treated with low and medium concentrations of PEG-6000 gradually increased with the increase of concentration, while that of high concentration treatment decreased. The soluble saccharide content tended to be consistent with the concentration of PEG-6000.The comprehensive analysis showed that severe drought would inhibit the seed germination of Periploca forrestii,so the concentration of PEG-6000 should be moderately controlled in the future introduction and domestication process of Periploca forrestii.
