Assessment of Resistance to Rice Blast in Diverse Japonica Rice Varieties
To assess the resistance of japonica rice varieties from different ecological regions to rice blast, with the goal of identifying high-quality germplasm materials with improved resistance and pro-viding guidance for disease-resistant breeding and production application.Using artificial inoculation identification method and referring to the"Evaluation Standard for Rice Blast Resistance"of Guizhou Province,we classified the rice blast resistance of 38 japonica rice resources based on a comprehensive resistance index. The results showed that,8 japonica rice resources exhibited seedling leaf blast dis-ease grade≤2,accounting for 21.05%of the samples.Based on the comprehensive resistance index for panicle neck blast,6 materials were categorized as disease-resistant types, while 2 were moderate-ly resistant,3 were moderately susceptible, and 2 were susceptible;all other tested materials were highly susceptible varieties.Additionally,we observed that as seedling leaf blast disease grade in-creased,panicle neck blast resistance decreased.Based on our classification by comprehensive resist-ance index,Akita Komachi,Longdaol6,Nayong Wulixiang,Sutaol7,01HP25,and SY3 emerged as promising japonica rice germplasm resources with enhanced resistance. These varieties showed mini-mal occurrence of diseases during our experiment and demonstrated strong resilience against rice blast, those could be promoted as valuable breeding intermediate materials and high-quality japonica rice resources.
