Comparison of Seed Vigor of CT3661 Maize with Different Proportions
To determine the seed vigor difference of maize with different specific gravity,so as to pro-vide data basis for improving the uniformity of plant in seed production field and the primary removal rate of mechanical male removal.The CT3661 maize seeds were divided into large(<1.10 g/cm3)mid-dle(1.10~1.25 g/cm3),small(>1.25 g/cm3)three grades according to the specific gravity by the spe-cific gravity machine.Through different treatments,the germination potential,germination rate,seedling fresh weight,vitality index,shape index,conductivity,root-to-crown ratio and other indica-tors were analyzed and measured,and the differences of the vitality indexes of maize seeds of the same variety were compared.The determination of electrical conductivity showed that the seed vigor of maize seeds with higher specific gravity was the strongest,the cell membrane damage was the smal-lest,and the cell membrane integrity was the best.The standard germination test showed that the vigor of maize seeds with specific gravity was the highest.With the decrease of seed proportion,the vigor decreased more obviously.There was no significant difference in the growth of maize seedlings with different specific gravity grades.Low temperature germination test showed that low temperature had greater damage to seed roots than bud damage,and inhibited seed germination.There was no sig-nificant difference in germination potential,germination rate and germination index among different specific gravity grades.Low temperature cold soaking germination test showed that cold soaking had less root damage than bud damage.With the decrease of specific gravity,seedling fresh weight,seed-ling dry weight,root shoot ratio and seedling height decreased significantly.The influence degree of different proportion of corn seeds on vigor was in the order of large proportion>medium proportion>small proportion.Therefore,it is feasible to classify CT3661 corn seeds according to different propor-tions.After grading,the seeds are uniform,which greatly improves the uniformity of the plants in the seed production field.
