Clinical symptoms of spontaneous intracranial hypotension and its diagnosis and treatment status
Spontaneous intracranial hypotension(SIH)is a clinical syndrome characterized by orthostatic head-ache,manifesting as vertigo, nausea, unsteady gait, different degrees of disturbance of consciousness, etc. It may even threaten people's health and life.As the main clinical diagnosis method for SIH,brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)shows supratentorial and subtentorial diffuse dural thickening, subdural effusion, brain moving up,pituitary hyper-emia,etc.Complex clinical symptoms and imaging features can easily lead to misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis,delay-ing the treatment and affecting the prognosis.Currently, the treatment for SIH is based on bed rest and fluid replacement therapy. Most patients have a good prognosis, and a few patients need dural repair.Herein, clinical symptoms, diagnostic methods, and treatment status of SIH were briefly reviewed to strengthen clinical understanding of diagnosis and treat-ment of SIH.
