Street Charity Fundraising Activities during the Drought in Five Provinces of North China——An Investigation Centered on Beijing(1920-1921)
During the drought in five provinces of north China in 1920 and 1921,Beijing held street fundraising twice in Drought Anniversary and the National Fundraising Assembly.The activities took the form of street mobile fund-raising and fixed-point fund-raising,supplemented by creating a street charity atmosphere,which won enthusiastic response from the public.During this period,Beijing street charity fund-raising activities were born in the process of official relief and volun-tary relief cooperation,with young students as its core force and urban development laying its material foundation.It is not only a pioneering work to enrich modern charity forms,but also plays a role in training students'social service ability,and has become a national education practice to guide citizens to participate in public affairs.
