The rise of the metaverse has brought about subversive changes to society.The field of library and informa-tion science has keenly discovered the coming influence of the metaverse and launched extensive and in-depth research.In the field of library and information science,the opportunities and challenges brought by the metaverse are explored from the aspects of metaverse concept characteristics,smart library,resource organization,reading promotion.In view of the current research status,the existing problems and future trends are put forward.
