Construction of a Cross-border Community with a Shared Future in Doris Lessing's Autobiography Walking in the Shake
Walking in the Shake is an autobiography by Doris Lessing, winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for Literature. It is set in London after World War Ⅱ,which records the identity crisis and survival dilemma Lessing faced when she first came to Britain with multiple diaspora experiences. It also shows the common fate of the cross-border diaspora communities by the description of the diaspora experience of cross-race and war diaspora groups. The previous studies just took Lessing's autobiography as a reference for the study of her novel, however, her feelings and cognition of human destiny and spiritual crisis in the tide of globalization and its relationship with the community with a shared future for mankind is often neglected. In fact,in her more than half a century's writing,Lessing held a holistic view about human society with a global vision, and always concerned about the survival and crisis of human beings, which reflected her strong sense of community. In her autobiography Walking in the Shake,Lessing placed her feelings and cognition of human fate and trauma in the diaspora tide and completed the construction of a"Cross-border Community with a Shared Future"by considering the common consciousness of the diaspora group from the life of individual.
