On the connotation and practical significance of Zhu Xi's"Tao"
With metaphysical and physical properties,Tao is one of the core concepts in Zhu Xi's philosophy. The physical Tao is experience which has such connotations as road and ritual. The metaphysical Tao has connotations which are noumenon and use.Noumenon is the nature of the reason why all things exist in the world and the nature of the specific things of course, the former is Tian Li and the latter is Xing. For human beings,Tao is presented in the practice of human work.Doing work is doing Kungfu, the purpose of which is to understand Tian Li.To understand Tian Li is to unify the heart and absolute Tian Li.After that, what dominates human action will change from heart to Tian Li.Since then, human beings will have the transcendent characteristics of Tian Li.On the one hand, transcendence thoroughly distinguishes humans from non-humans.On the other hand,it also marks the transformation of human beings from natural existence to reasonable existence, which is the practical significance of Zhu Xi's Tao.
