Effect of Different Root Pruning Methods on Growth of Celtis sinensis in Full Crown Transplantation
In view of lack of targeted research on full crown transplantation of large-sized container seedlings of Celtis sinensis in China, two comparative experiments had been conducted on different root cutting time and frequencies of C.sinensis in a nursery to analyze effects of various operating methods on growth and development of seedlings, for providing technical support for full crown transplantation of large-sized C.sinensis.The results showed that root cutting during dormancy significantly enhances seedling growth compared to root cutting during growth, and multiple root cutting treat-ments could significantly improve seedling growth compared to single root cutting treatment in the first year.It is recom-mended that in the actual full crown transplanting operation,if preparation period is long, the root cutting treatment should be carried out in advance during the dormant period of the tree.
