Government-Led or Nongovernmental Engagement:An Inquiry into the Selection of the Main Body of Meal Service for the Elderly
The main provider of meal service for the elderly will affect its effect. In China, meal service is mainly divided into two categories:government-led and nongovernment. It is very important to clarify which one achieves better effect for solving the existing problems of meal service for the elderly.Based on data from 1016 questionnaires and the operation of nongovernment engagement, government leadership and the effect of meal service, the paper utilizes Binary Logistic Regression Analysis method to conduct an empirical study on the relationship between the "effect of meal service","non-government engagement in meal service" and "government-led meal service".The results show that both the latter two have significant effects on the effec-tiveness of meal services. With the participation of nongovernment factors, the effect of meal service has been significantly improved, but there are still deficiencies in some services.Although government leadership has not significantly improved the effectiveness of meal services,it still has an important impact on it.Based on the above,it can be seen that the improvement of the quality of meal services is inseparable from the two main bodies. The government should use policies to foster the market and supplement the areas where nongovernment forces have not yet reached, while enterprises should use market competition to continuously improve the quali-ty of the meal services. Both the two sides should cooperate to jointly promote the development of meal services for the elderly.
