The typical sampling method was used to make a statistical investigation and comparative analysis of the plants composition,species diversity and community diversity index in the urban greenbelts of Xianning city.The results showed that there were 75 families,133 genera and 197 species of green plants in the urban green lands of Xianning city.In different types of greenbehs,the sweet olives had the highest occurrence,while the other native tree species were relatively rare.The street parks had the highest plant diversity index,while the plant diversity indexes in road greenbelts,square greenbelts,and residential area greenbelts were relatively low.During the greenbelt construction in Xianning city,it is important to protect the plant diversity in street parks and further to optimize their plant composition structures.In addition,it is necessary to increase the plant species in the other three types of greenbelts and attention should be focused on the promotion and cultivation of some ornamental plants in the urban greenbelts.
