Effect of Plant Growth Regulator on Germination and Seedling Growth of Different Maize Varieties
To explore the effects of different growth regulators on three maize varieties,four plant growth regulators including gibberellin (200 mg/L),chlormequat chloride (500 mg/L),paclobutrazol (200 mg/L) and ethephon (200 mg/L) were used on three maize varieties Qingnong No.8,Zhengdan 958 and Nongda 108.Effect of different growth regulators on the seed germination and morphological index of maize were studied.The results showed that different plant growth regulators had different effect on three maize varieties.Gibberellin was beneficial to the improvement of the germination percentage of Zhengdan 958 and Nongda 108.Paclobutrazol could increase the second leaf width,root fresh weight and root dry weight of Qingnong No.8.Best seed soaking method can be selected based on research purpose.
