Purification of Red Pigment from Jujube Fruits Peel by Macroporous Resin
To explore the optimal purification status, nine types of macroporous resins were used to investigate the properties of static absorption and desorption for the pigment purification, one type of macroporous resin was chosen to further investi-gate the dynamic properties of absorption and desorption for this pigment. The results demonstrated that X-5 was considered the most suitable resin for purification of red pigment from jujube fruit peels. The optimal absorption parameters for the pig-ment was at the concentration of 1.0 mg/mL with pH at 3.0 and the loading flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, and the optimal des-orption conditions were using 60% ethanol as solvent at the flow rate of 2.0 mL/min. The color value of the obtained red pigment by this process reached from 12.8 to 32.4. The results provided the optimal process parameters with macroporous resin X-5 for industrial purification of the red pigment from jujube fruits.
