The English translation of urban public signs is not only a guide for foreign tourists to understand the city,but also a manifestation of the culture soft power of a city.Accurate and appropriate English translation can convey information accurately and avoid misunderstandings.This paper investigates the current situation of errors in the English translation of public signs in Qinhuangdao city roads,commercial districts and scenic spots,points out that the main causes are the level and cultural differences of translators,and the lack of standardized management,and puts forward some measures such as setting up full-time departments,formulating norms,cooperating with universities and strengthening supervision to standardize the English translation of public signs in cities.
