Study on the mechanical and failure characteristics of granite under freeze-thaw cycles
The freeze-thaw cycle is one of the main factors causing the deterioration of rock mechanical properties in cold regions. To study the damage evolution process of rocks during freeze-thaw cycles, granite was selected to conduct freeze-thaw cycle tests and uniaxial compression tests, and the deformation and failure characteristics are analyzed. The experimental results indicate that the mechanical properties of granite decrease exponentially with freeze-thaw cycles, the failure mode changes and the number of main cracks increases.A decay model was proposed based on experimental data, and the evolution law of damage variable was analyzed. This research provides experimental basis for evaluating the ability to resist freeze-thaw cycles and calculating the stability of rock engineering in cold regions.
