Geological characteristics of F31 fault in Baolin tunnel and mechanism of water & mud inrush
Fault is one of the main disaster-causing structures of water & mud inrush in tunnel construction.Fault F31 of Baolin Tunnel is located in the gneiss area of northern Hubei, and its surface characteristics and underground characteristics are quite different. There is almost no obvious fault influence zone, and the overall development scale of underground is large, which is significantly different from other conventional fault-causing structures at home and abroad.Based on the detailed analysis of the topography, geological structure, material composition and groundwater characteristics of the F31 fault,it is considered that the F31 fault has experienced multi-stage activities.Although the overall scale is large, the water & mud inrush disasters are mainly induced by the last stage of the activity of the thrust fault. Its material sources are mainly fault mud, softened cataclastic rock and broken structure breccia near fault plane. The overall water storage of the fault is limited, but the groundwater connectivity is good, the water head is high, and the supply is large. The water & mud inrush disaster of F31 fault is a typical intermittent water & mud inrush disaster caused by the breakdown of the barrier of the Water-conducting fault. The research results have important reference value for other engineering under the same geological background.
