A Review and Outlook on Research into the Essence of Ideological and Political Education
Over the past 40 years,discussions on the essence of ideological and political education have remained a core issue in the development of this discipline.Since 1984,research on this topic has progressed through three stages:emergence,development,and reflection.Throughout these stages,scholars have ad-hered to Marxist theory as a guiding framework and moral education as a fundamental objective,utilizing a methodology that combines historical and logical perspectives.Key theories,such as attribute theory,indoc-trination theory,interaction theory,and spiritual production theory,have enriched and expanded the under-standing of this field's essence.However,current research still faces challenges,such as an emphasis on static rather than dynamic aspects,a focus on class-based rather than social perspectives,and a prioritization of logical coherence over disciplinary integrity.These issues limit the high-quality development of ideological and political education as a discipline.Future research should aim to reconstruct the essence of ideological and political education from Marxist practical ontology,emphasize the hierarchical nature of essential research by exploring the internal logic across different levels,and strengthen the disciplinary integrity to establish a foundation for meta-ideological and political pedagogy.The article,by reviewing the existing research achievements in the academic community,reflects on the problems existing in the study of the essence of ideo-logical and political education,which is conducive to clarifying the new path of research on the essence of ide-ological and political education,promoting the synchronous development of the basic theories of the discipline of ideological and political education,perfecting the discipline system of ideological and political education,and promoting the high-quality development of the discipline of ideological and political education.
