Correlation of expression levels of TRIM14 and HOXB7 with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma
Objective To explore the correlation of the expression levels of tripartite motif-containing 14(TRIM14)and homeobox gene B7(HOXB7)proteins with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)patients. Methods OSCC tissues and paracancerous tissues were collected from 148 surgically treated OSCC patients in our hospital from January 2016 to January 2018.Immunohistochemical staining was applied to analyze the expressions of TRIM14 and HOXB7.Kaplan-Meier survival method was performed to analyze the correlation of the expression levels of TRIM14 and HOXB7 in cancer tissues with the survival of OSCC.COX regression was applied to analyze the influencing factors for poor prognosis of OSCC.Results TRIM14 and HOXB7 were overexpressed in OSCC tissues than those of paracancerous tissues(P<0.05).The expression levels of TRIM14 and HOXB7 in OSCC tissues were significantly correlated with T staging,M staging, lymph node metastasis, peripheral tissue invasion, and tumor differentiation(P<0.05).The 5-year survival of OSCC patients was 49.32%(73/148).Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed that the survival rate of OSCC patients with high expressions of TRIM14 and HOXB7 was significantly lower than those with low expressions of TRIM14 and HOXB7(χ2=14.480,24.841,P<0.001).Multivariate COX analysis showed that T3-T4 stage,M1 stage, lymph node metastasis, peripheral tissue infiltration, and high expression of TRIM14 and HOXB7 in cancer tissue were all risk factors for poor prognosis of OSCC(P<0.05).Conclusion TRIM14 and HOXB7 are overexpressed in cancer tissues of OSCC patients, and their expressions are significantly correlated with the clinicopathological characteristics and 5-year survival of OSCC.
