Effect of ERAS-based care on postoperative gastrointestinal function in patients undergoing cholecystectomy
Objective To study the enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)-based care on postoperative gastrointestinal function in patients undergoing cholecystectomy. Methods A total of 106 patients who underwent cholecystectomy in our hospital from May 2020 to May 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into the study group and control group, with 53 patients in each group. All patients were managed by conventional care, and those in the study group additionally received ERAS-based care. The Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale(GSRS)and the Gastrointestinal Quality of Life Index(GIQLI)were used to evaluate the intervention effect. The time of first oral feeding, time of first anal exhaust, time of first bowel movement, length of stay, and incidence of complications were recorded. Results After intervention, the score of each dimension and the total score of the GSRS and GIQLI scales were significantly lower in the study group than those of control group(all P<0.05).The time of first oral feeding, time of first anal exhaust, time of first bowel movement and length of stay were significantly lower in the study group than those of control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications was slightly lower in the study group than that of control group, although a significant difference was not detectable(P>0.05).Conclusion ERAS-based care can improve postoperative gastrointestinal discomfort symptoms, increase gastrointestinal quality of life, promote gastrointestinal function recovery and postoperative rehabilitation, and reduce length of stay in patients undergoing cholecystectomy.
