Objective To identify the correlation between brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV)and malignancies. Methods It was a cross-sectional study involving 41 404 employees of Kailuan Group who participated in the physical examination and the baPWV test from 2010 to 2017.According to the level of baPWV,the subjects were divided into 3 groups as follows:group 1(baPWV≤1,400cm/s),group 2(1,400cm/s≤baPWV<1,800cm/s)and group 3(baPWV≥1,800cm/s).Logistic regression model was used to analyze the correlation between baPWV and malignancies. Results The mean age of the cohort was(48.1±12.1)years old. There were 71.9%male participants. The prevalence of malignancies in group 1,2 and 3 was 0.58%,0.77%and 0.92%,respectively.After adjusting for confounding factors including age, gender, smoking, drinking, physical exercise, fasting blood glucose, mean arterial pressure, waist circumference, body mass index, total cholesterol and C-reactive protein, the Logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratio(OR)of malignancies in group 2 and 3 than that of group 1 was 1.17(95%CI 1.06-1.30)and 1.47(95%CI 1.28-1.70),respectively(P<0.01).Conclusion The baPWV is correlated with malignancies.
