Objective To investigate the mediating effect of psychological resilience on cognitive function and sleep disorder in elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation. Methods A total of 246 elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation treated in the Third Department of Surgery,Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University were selected using the convenience sampling.Sleep quality, resilience and cognitive function in elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation were assessed using general information questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC)and the Mini-mental State Examination(MMSE).Results The scores of PSQI,CD-RISC and simplified MMSE in elderly patients with gastric cancer after operation were(5.63±1.41)points,(60.31±7.85)points and(17.56±2.97)points,respectively.The total score of the PSQI was negatively correlated with those of the MMSE and CD-RISC(r=-0.421 and-0.542,respectively;both P<0.05),and the total score of MMSE was positively correlated with that of the CD-RISC(r = 0.874,P<0.05).The results of linear regression analysis showed that resilience played a partial mediating role between cognitive function and sleep disturbance, with a contribution rate of 71.28%.Conclusion Cognitive function indirectly affects the sleep quality of elderly patients after gastric cancer surgery through resilience, and sleep quality and cognitive function of elderly patients after gastric cancer surgery need to be further improved.
