Correlation between volar angulation of the distal ulna and pain on the ulnar side of the wrist
Objective To investigate the correlation between the volar angulation of the distal ulna and the pain on the ulnar side of the wrist. Methods From January 2016 to January 2017,64 patients with unilateral carpal ulnar pain who were treated in 980 Hospital of the PLA JLSF were retrospectively recruited in the observation group, and 64 volunteers without carpal ulnar pain symptoms during the same period were selected as the control group.Anterior and lateral X-ray films of the bilateral wrist joints were captured in all subjects. The correlation between the volar angulation of the distal ulna and the pain on the ulnar side of the wrist was analyzed by measuring the volar angle of the distal ulna. Results There was no significant difference in the angularization difference of the distal ulna of both wrists in the observation group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the volar angle of the distal ulna between the observation group and the control group(P>0.05).Subgroup analysis showed that the probability of the volar angulation of the distal ulnar at 170-175° in the observation group and control group was 48.44% and 9.38%,respectively,showing a significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion The volar angulation of the distal ulna is one of the risk factors for the pain on the ulnar side of the wrist, and a smaller angle poses a higher incidence of pain on the ulnar side of the wrist.
