Effect of family participation in a network continuity intervention on the self-efficacy of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with hypertension
Objective To analyze the effect of family participation in a network continuity intervention on the self-efficacy of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)combined with hypertension. Methods A total of 108 elderly T2DM patients combined with hypertension admitted from March 2021 to March 2022 were included as study subjects.Using a random number table method, they were randomly into the control group and observation group, with 54 cases in each group.Conventional continuity intervention was performed in the control group, and the family participation in a network continuity intervention was conducted in the observation group. The level of social network,self-efficacy,blood glucose and blood pressure before and after the intervention were compared between groups. The incidence of complications during the intervention period was recorded. Results After the intervention, the scores of the Lubben Social Network Scale-6(LSNS-6),the Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale—Chinese Version(C-DMSES)and the self-efficacy evaluation scale of hypertension patients were significantly higher in the observation group than those of the control group(P<0.05).The fasting plasma glucose(FPG),plasma blood glucose(PBG),systolic blood pressure(SBP)and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)and the incidence of complications were significantly lower in the observation group than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of family participation in a network continuity intervention f in elderly T2DM patients combined with hypertension is effective in improving their social network level and self-efficacy,helping them to better control their blood glucose and blood pressure and reduce the occurrence of complications.
