Effects of multi-dimensional nursing based on empowerment theory on pain level and recovery process of patients after laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer
Objective To explore the effects of multi-dimensional nursing based on empowerment theory on pain level and recovery process of patients after laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer. Methods A total of 128 patients with colorectal cancer admitted to the hospital between October 2020 and September 2022 were enrolled. They were randomly divided into conventional nursing group(routine perioperative nursing,n = 64)and empowerment theory group(multi-dimensional nursing based on empowerment theory,n = 64).All recruited colorectal cancer patients were treated with laparoscopic radical resection. The postoperative recovery process, pain level, incidence of complications, changes of psychological status before and after intervention, and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The recovery time of postoperative first exhaust and defecation, the first time of off-bed activities and length of stay in empowerment theory group were significantly shorter than those in conventional nursing group(P<0.05).At 1 d and 3 d after surgery, the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores in empowerment theory group were significantly lower than those in conventional nursing group(P<0.05).After interventions, scores of Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD)decreased in both groups, which were significantly lower in empowerment theory group than those in conventional nursing group(P<0.05).The total incidence of postoperative complications(incision infection, intestinal obstruction, urinary retention, anastomotic fistula)in empowerment theory group was significantly lower than that in conventional nursing group(P<0.05),and the nursing satisfaction score was significantly higher(P<0.05).Conclusion Multi-dimensional nursing based on empowerment theory can significantly relieve pain and negative emotions, reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, and accelerate recovery of physiological function after laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer, with a high nursing satisfaction.
