Objective To investigate the dynamic changes and underlying factors of advance care planning(ACP)readiness in breast cancer patients with chemotherapy. Methods This was a longitudinal study, totally 138 breast cancer patients who were preparing for their first chemotherapy treatment were recruited, and the Advance Care Planning Readiness Scale(ACPRS)and the Strategies Used by People to Promote Health(SUPPH)Scale for cancer patients were performed to follow up the patients at four time points:At time of admission(T0),the first chemotherapy(T1),the middle stage of chemotherapy(T2),1 month later of chemotherapy(T3).Results The ACPRS scores at four time points T0,T1,T2,and T3 in those patients were(68.75±13.45),(71.37±13.00),(80.11±12.46),(79.41±9.50),respectively.Co-morbidities,adjuvant chemotherapy, and self-management efficacy were factors influencing readiness for ACP in breast cancer patients with chemotherapy(all P<0.05).Conclusion The readiness level of ACP in breast cancer patients varies dynamically during chemotherapy, and healthcare professionals can improve the readiness level of ACP by intervening patients'self-management efficacy when objective factors could not be changed.
