Correlation between PAX8 gene and epithelial ovarian cancer
Epithelial ovarian cancer(EOC)is consists of several different histological subtypes,in which high-grade serous ovarian cancer is the most common, accounting for approximately 70%of invasive EOC.Recent studies have found that the disease is likely to originate from the fallopian tube secretory epithelium. The paired box gene 8(PAX8)is a gene related of lineage-specific transcription factor that plays an important role in the normal development of the fallopian tube,in addition, participating in EOC through a variety of ways.Although more researchers believe that PAX8 gene is related to tumor cell migration, invasion, proliferation, cell survival, stem cell maintenance, the specific mechanism of PAX8 in EOC is unknown. Therefore, studying the characteristics and mechanism of PAX8 gene expression in EOC may find effective tumor markers for this type of ovarian cancer, and provide new ideas for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of EOC.
