Objective To study the correlation of prenatal ultrasonographic diagnosis of fetal nasal bone abnormalities with congenital structural malformations and aneuploidy abnormalities of chromosomes. Methods A total of 262 fetuses with abnormal fetal nasal bone development detected during pregnancy from February 2019 to April 2022,and 170 fetuses with aneuploidy abnormalities of chromosomes detected by amniocentesis in our hospital from July 2018 to April 2022 were recruited. All fetuses were examined by Color Doppler ultrasonography during the prenatal ultrasound examination. The occurrence of fetal nasal bone abnormalities combined with malformations, and chromosomal abnormalities in fetuses with abnormal nasal bone development and those with abnormal nasal bone development combined with malformations were analyzed. Results Of the262 fetuses with nasal bone abnormalities,140 had nasal bone abnormalities and 122(46.6%)combined with malformations.Of the 122 fetuses with structural malformations of nasal bone,83(76.3%)had a single malformation and 39(23.7%)had multiple malformations.Of 170 fetuses with chromosomal abnormalities detected by amniocentesis,75(44.1%)had abnormal nasal bone development and 95(55.9%)had normal nasal bone development. Conclusion The incidence of fetal nasal bone abnormalities combined with structural malformations or chromosomal abnormalities is high;Ultrasonographic examination of fetal nasal bone development during pregnancy contributes to enhance the detection rate of fetal congenital abnormalities.
