Objective To explore the application and clinical value of subspecialty care model in gastrointestinal surgery. Methods A total of 200 gastrointestinal surgery patients admitted from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected.According to different intervention methods, they were divided into control group(100 cases)and study group(100 cases).Patients in the control group received routine nursing, and those in the study group received subspecialty care nursing. The nursing satisfaction, symptom improvement time, start time of enteral nutrition, average blood glucose, length of stay, hospitalization cost, quality of subspecialty care and the score of quality of life were compared. Results The nursing satisfaction of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Patients in the study group had significantly higher score of comfort and less time of abdominal pain and abdominal distension relief than those of control group(P<0.05).Patients in the study group had significantly shorter start time of enteral nutrition and length of stay, and lower average blood glucose and hospitalization cost than those of control group(P<0.05).Patients in the study group had significantly lower incidence of complications and higher rate of implementing nursing interventions than those of control group(P<0.05).Before nursing, there was no significant difference in the score of quality of life between groups(P>0.05).After nursing, the score of each dimension of quality of life was significantly elevated in both groups, which was significantly higher in the study group than that of control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of subspecialty care model in gastrointestinal surgery patients can effectively improve the nursing satisfaction and quality of specialty nursing, further alleviate symptoms, reduce the blood sugar level, and speed up the recovery,so as to achieve the purpose of improving the quality of life.
