Objective This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of tans-bladder intra-abdominal pressure monitoring on gastrointestinal function recovery in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. Methods A total of 85 patients undergoing abdominal surgery in our hospital between January 2022 and May 2023 were included in this study.Patients in the control group(n=43)received standard perioperative nursing care, patients in the intervention group(n=42)additionally received tans-bladder intra-abdominal pressure monitoring for gastrointestinal function recovery. The time to postoperative bowel sound, postoperative first exhaust, postoperative first intake of semi-liquid diet, hospitalization,as well as incidence of postoperative gastrointestinal symptoms were recorded in the two groups. The Gastrointestinal Symptoms Rating Scale(GSRS)and the General Comfort Questionnaire(GCQ)were performed to assess intervention effects. Results After the intervention, the intervention group exhibited significantly shorter time to postoperative bowel sound, postoperative first exhaust, postoperative first intake of semi-liquid diet, hospitalization compared to the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative gastrointestinal symptoms in the intervention group was similar to the control group(P>0.05).After the intervention, the research group had significantly lower dimension scores and overall score of GSRS scale compared to the control group(P<0.05).The intervention group also presented significantly higher dimensions cores in physiological, psychological, and social-cultural,as well as the total score of the GCQ scale(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of tans-bladder intra-abdominal pressure monitoring on gastrointestinal function recovery in patients undergoing abdominal surgery can effectively promote gastrointestinal function recovery, reduce incidence of postoperative gastrointestinal symptoms, improve discomfort symptoms, and enhance patient comfort.
