Inflammatory response is a key factor in determining the severity and prognosis of heart failure(HF).Interleukin(IL)-1 family cytokines, mainly including IL-1,IL-18 and IL-33/suppression of tumorigenicity 2(ST2)axis,participate in inflammation through mediating various signaling pathways, leading to myocardial systolic and diastolic dysfunction, cardiac remodeling, mitochondrial dysfunction and abnormal vascular injury.IL-1 family plays a key role in each physiological and pathological link of HF.This article reviewed the mechanism of action of IL-1,IL-18 and IL-33/ST2 axis in HF-induced inflammation.
