Oral ulcers are one of the common adverse events in anti-tumor therapy, presenting the main manifestations of oral local inflammation, oral pain, dysphagia, xerostomia, dysgeusia, secondary infection, etc.Oral ulcers are recurrent that pose discomfort to daily live.Radiation or anti-tumor agents kill tumor cells and spontaneously impair oral mucosal epithelial cells, leading to oral tissue atrophy and ulcers. In addition,anti-tumor therapy indirectly influences the immunity. The decreased resistance of the host provides an opportunity of bacteria invasion into the mucosal damage area.Although many guidelines for prevention and treatment of oral ulcers have been issued, clinical practice has not been highlighted. So far,the active and effective preventive measures are lacking, and there is no specific drugs for the treatment of tumor-associated oral ulcers.Severe oral ulcers with intolerable pain affect the smooth progress of anti-tumor therapy. This article reviewed the research progress of oral ulcer combined by malignant tumors,in order to provide references for clinical diagnosis and treatment and further research.
