Effect of adjusting fasting C-peptide,HbA1c and fructosamine on the incidence of chronic complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Objective To investigate the interventions to reduce chronic complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)through adjusting fasting C-peptide,glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)and fructosamine content. Methods One hundred and sixteen patients with T2DM admitted to our hospital during March 2019 to April 2020 were enrolled. They were randomly assigned into the control group and observation group using a random number table method, with 58 cases per group. All patients were intervened by the standard diabetes treatment and management, and those in the observation group were additionally given interventions based on the adjustments of fasting C-peptide,HbA1c and fructosamine content. The fasting blood glucose(FBG),homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),body mass index(BMI),fasting C-peptide and fructosamine before and at 6 months after treatment were measured.Chronic complications within 3 years were recorded. Results At 6 months of treatment,T2DM patients in the observation group had significantly lower FBG,2-h postprandial blood glucose(2hPBG)and hemoglobin A1C(HbA1c)than those of the control group(P<0.05).At 6 months of treatment,BMI,HOMA-IR and waist and hip circumferences in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(all P<0.05).Fasting C-peptide and fructosamine at 6 months of treatment were significantly lower in the observation group than those of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of chronic complications within 3 years in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The interventions based on adjusting fasting C peptide,HbAlc and fructosamine content can effectively reduce chronic complications, lower blood glucose levels and improve body posture in T2DM patients, which is worth promoting.
