Status and influencing factors of cognitive frailty in elderly patients with hypertension in Xinjiang pastoral areas
Objective To investigate the status and influencing factors of cognitive frailty of elderly patients with hypertension in Xinjiang pastoral areas.Methods A total of eligible 1,046 elderly patients with hypertension who underwent physical examination and treatment at a health center in Urumqi County from May 2021 to July 2022 were as subjects.The questionnaire survey and physical examination were performed in the patients.The cognitive frailty was assessed using FRAIL Scale,Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)and Clinical Dementia Rating(CDR).Results A total of 343/1,046(32.8%)elderly patients with hypertension had cognitive frailty.Logistic regression analysis results showed that advanced age,drinking salty milk tea,long course of hypertension,dystrophy,lipid abnormality,damaged instrumental activities of daily living(IADL)were risk factors for cognitive frailty in elderly patients with hypertension(P<0.05),while eating red flesh and physical training exercise were protective factors(P<0.05).Conclusion The incidence of cognitive frailty in elderly patients with hypertension is higher in Xinjiang pastoral areas.Medical staff in pastoral areas should pay attention to the assessment of cognitive frailty and timely take targeted intervention measures.Therefore,the quality of life of the elderly with hypertension may be improved by the changes in their cognitive frailty.
